Food For Thought
In this activity, you will compare name brands to generic brands when shopping. You will also evaluate the difference in price when buying generic brands.
- Download the Food for Thought .doc
or .rtf.
- For Part One, visit a store in your area to “price shop” for the items listed on the mock grocery list chart. (or just go to a grocery store website or amazonfresh to see the prices)
- Compare the name brand with generic prices by filling in the missing blanks in the chart. (Some items might not have a generic so compare it to a different brand.)
- Total the list of brand name items and generic items at the bottom of the chart.
- For Part Two, answer the questions at the bottom of the document in complete sentences.
